BIO
Nik T (Tim Nikiforuk)
Nik T (b. 1975) is a Canadian artist whose work seeks to engage the space between painting and sculpture. Best known for his richly textured, vividly colored applications of gel and oils over substrates such as vinyl on panel, Nik T employs unique tools made specifically for each painting. His current work focuses on the highways and flyways of California. Taking cues from the complexity of the interstate system, Nik T creates compositions reminiscent of a bird’s eye view of one of the world’s most interconnected systems of passage.
Nik T received his BFA from the University of Calgary in 1999, and his MFA from the University of Connecticut in 2001. He currently lives and works in San Diego, CA
